They say life is a beautiful, messy adventure. Except for some of us it might feel more like tangled mess of our own making. For me, that mess consisted of poor time management, a chronic procrastination habit, and a mindset that was more “Negative Nancy” than “Joyful Jen”. Sound familiar? If you’re nodding along, you’re not alone. I was fully convinced that this was just how life was going to be now that I was a mom. But then, I met my life coach, and everything changed.

Was my life coach also a magician?

Kind of! My life coach wasn’t exactly a magician, but she had a way of helping me see the magic within myself. She didn’t hand me a rigid schedule or a list of rules to follow. Instead, she guided me on a journey of self-discovery, helping me understand why I was struggling and what my personal roadblocks were.

I used to drown in a sea of “should have, would have, could have” thoughts. I’d jump from one unfinished task to another, constantly feeling overwhelmed and behind. My coach helped me identify why my brain was stuck in these procrastination habits and together we created a realistic system that worked with my natural rhythms, not against them. She taught me how to time block (not hour-block), set realistic goals, and simply accept things and life for what they were: simply chaotic sometimes. And that was ok. For the first time, I felt like I was the master of my time, not the other way around.

The most significant change was in my mindset. I used to be my own worst critic, focusing on my shortcomings and dwelling on negative thoughts. By using a “thought model” tool, she completely shattered the glass on how I was viewing myself. The power our thoughts hold over us is absolutely incredible, and what you tell yourself will either uplift you or keep you down. That’s why my coach worked so hard on helping me reframe my limiting beliefs and encouraged me to celebrate any victories, big and small, so that failures could instead be seen as opportunities for growth. Over time, I learned to cultivate a mindset of resilience, gratitude, and self-compassion.

Bottom Line

My journey with a life coach was nothing short of transformational. She didn’t give me the answers, instead she empowered me to find them within myself. If you’re struggling with time management, procrastination, a negative mindset, or any other life challenge, I encourage you to consider working with a life coach. It’s an investment in yourself that can yield incredible results. You deserve to live a life of purpose, passion, and empowerment, and a life coach can help you get there.
