Want to crush your fitness goals without breaking the bank or even leaving the house? Forget expensive gym memberships – with a little savvy shopping and the power of Apple Fitness+, you can create an awesome home workout setup on a budget. Here’s how I’m building mine (and you can too!):

The Secret Weapon: Apple Fitness+

If you’re already in the Apple ecosystem, Fitness+ is a game-changer. The variety of workouts – from HIIT and yoga to strength training and dance – is incredible, and the integration with your Apple Watch provides real-time metrics that keep you motivated. Plus, new workouts are added weekly, so you’ll never get bored.

Small Wins from Amazon & Target:

These are the little things that make a big difference without emptying your wallet:

  • Amazon Finds:
    • Resistance Bands: A set of various resistance levels is super versatile for strength training and stretching. (Think under $20!)
    • Yoga Mat: Essential for comfort and stability during floor exercises. You can find good quality ones for around $20-$30.
    • Jump Rope: A classic cardio tool that’s inexpensive and effective. Look for one with adjustable length (around $15-$25).
  • Target Treasures:
    • Hand Weights: Start with a light and medium set (maybe 3-5 lbs and 8-12 lbs, depending on your current fitness level). Target often has great deals on individual weights or small sets (budget around $20-$40).
    • Sliders: These little discs are fantastic for low-impact core and leg work. You can usually find a pair for under $15.
  • Walmart Wins:
    • Exercise Mats or Flooring: Interlocking mats can help create a dedicated workout space.

Facebook Marketplace Score!

This is where you can snag some real bargains! Keep an eye out for:

  • Lightly Used Heavier Dumbbells or Kettlebells: People often sell these in great condition for a fraction of the retail price. Be patient and check regularly!
  • Big Ticket Items: Treadmills, spin bikes, ellipticals, and other gently used or new/older model cardio equipment are fantastic buys on Amazon or Facebook Marketplace.

Choose One Large (But Still Budget-Friendly) Purchase:

To really elevate your home gym, consider investing in one slightly larger piece of equipment. Ex:

  • Adjustable Dumbbells: Instead of buying multiple sets of dumbbells, a single pair of adjustable dumbbells can save space and money in the long run. You can find decent options starting around $100-$200. This will offer more progressive overload as you get stronger.
  • Cardio Equipment: Choose 1 that you know you will use, enjoy, and have space. Get your cardio no matter the weather without breaking the bank.
  • Barbell and Bench Press (Used): For those looking to build serious strength, a used barbell and bench press setup from Facebook Marketplace can be an excellent investment. Keep an eye out for complete sets in good condition – you might be surprised at the deals you can find. This option allows for a wider range of compound exercises.

Putting It All Together:

The beauty of this setup is its flexibility. With Apple Fitness+ you have a personal trainer guiding you through effective workouts using the budget-friendly gear you need and prefer.

Today’s Move:

Start by browsing Amazon and Target to get an idea of what retail prices are for the items to ensure they’re a good deal. Then, hop over to Facebook Marketplace and see what gems are available in your area. Even one or two small additions to your gym can make a big difference in your home workout routine.

You may even decide to ONLY purchase Apple Fitness+ and start with the equipment-free workouts! That’s great! Either way, today is the day to get started.💪
