Ever feel like life’s changes are hitting you all at once, leaving you lost and unsure where to turn? You’re not alone. I’ve been there, and I want to share my story to finding clarity and direction.

My Journey Through Overwhelm:

There was a time not too long ago (last summer) when I felt a bit lost. It wasn’t one big thing, but a combination of changes and life transitions. I was overwhelmed, feeling unproductive, and deeply uncertain about my career path.

I remember days when I felt paralyzed by the sheer number of things I thought I should be doing. I was trapped in a cycle of self-doubt, convinced I wasn’t good enough, wasn’t doing enough, and wasn’t focusing on the right things. Ultimately, I felt like I was just wasting time.

The funny thing about those mindsets is they become a self-fulfilling prophecy. The more I told myself those things, the less I was able to get done, and the more lost I felt. I remember one specific afternoon, around 1 PM, folding laundry on my bedroom floor, and realizing I hadn’t done anything else with my day because I had felt so overwhelmed. That’s when I knew I’d had enough and decided to hire a coach.

That experience rocked my world. My coach, Kristen, didn’t give me a magic formula. Instead, she listened and helped me see the patterns I was stuck in. She helped me recognize the voices in my head for what they were: negative self-talk stemming from a lack of clarity. She helped me understand that what I perceived as “wasting time” was often a lack of planning, and that what I labeled as a personal failing was something to be accepted, and worked through with self-compassion. This process helped me to feel empowered to take control of my life.

My coaching journey became a process of:

  • Reframing: Seeing those challenges not as insurmountable obstacles, but as opportunities for growth.
  • Giving voice to my fears: Acknowledging the uncertainty instead of trying to suppress it.
  • Connecting with my strengths: Remembering what I was good at, what I valued, and what brought me joy.
  • Shifting my self-talk: Moving from constant self-criticism to self-compassion. Accepting this part of my journey, with all its ups and downs. Learning that setbacks are a natural part of the growth process, not a reflection of my worth.

It wasn’t always easy, but it was profoundly liberating. I learned that it’s okay to feel lost, that transitions are rarely smooth, and that our internal landscape is just as important as the external world. And I learned that with the right support, we can navigate even the most challenging of times and find a renewed sense of self.
